Guiding · Your day
What to expect on a guided day.
What happens before the day, on the day, and after it.
Before the day
- Once a date is agreed, a written confirmation comes with the Booking Terms and a payment link. How booking works
- Each climber's forms are completed online before the day, in your own client page. Sign in with the email you booked with.
- A few days out, an email arrives with the plan, the expected weather, and where and when to meet.
What to bring
Provided
- Climbing shoes, helmets, harnesses, ropes, hardware and the anchor system
- On ice days, crampons and ice tools
Yours to bring for a rock day
- Sturdy closed-toe shoes for the walk in
- Layers in wool or synthetic fabric, and a rain jacket
- A day pack, lunch, snacks and at least 1.5 liters of water
- Sunscreen, sunglasses and any medications you need
Ice days and hikes have their own packing list, which comes with the pre-trip email. On ice days, reach out to your guide to discuss boots.
On the day
- Meet your guide at the trailhead at the time in the pre-trip email. Meeting times are firm, so call if you are running late.
- The day starts with the plan and the hazards. The guide checks every harness and knot, in three checks: a gear check (you have everything for the day), an equipment check (your own helmet and harness are safe) and a partner check (every knot before climbing).
- The guide makes the weather call. Usually the day moves to another crag or objective, at the same price. The weather rules

After the day
Every day ends with skills to keep working on and a next objective to aim for.
